Hi, I'm Mariella, and I am the editor for this blog.
I started Musing on Beauty in 2009 to share my enthusiasm about the beauty industry.
A little bit about me?
I am in my late 30's and I live in Belgium. I work in Digital Marketing running my own business, and have a passion for all things beauty.
I particularly love trying and comparing products: packaging, ingredients, experience, price... all aspects are important to me! That is why you will find a lot of reviews on my blog.
Makeup is definitely my creative outlet, and even though I have some staples and favorites, I like trying new combinations all the time. I rarely wear the same makeup two days in a row, which is why you will also find quite a few "Faces of the Day" on here. The result is not always fantastic, but that's a great thing about makeup: it washes off!
Skin type and color information.
Obviously, I can only tell you what works for me. So you should know that my skin is about an NC15 (to be precise, it's fair olive with cool undertones even though it's yellow) and is combination with a tendency to be dehydrated.
My eyes are navy blue, almond shaped but with hooded eyelids that do get oily.
My hair naturally a mousy blonde with, hum, lots of greys now (about 30%). I stopped coloring it in January 2013 due to an allergic reaction and since only use a 100% vegetal dye called Wella EOS once in a while - but it's not a perfect solution against grey hair. My hair is naturally wavy and frizzy so I tend to straighten it to make my life easier, and it easily gets oily so I never overload it with product, and I wash it daily.
Some of my favorite products.
Despite me being trying new things all the time, there are some products I can't be without.
Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder, Mac Studio Waterwight and Nars Radiant Tinted Moisturizer are the bases I use 90% of the time. Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer is also a must for me.
I have lots of eyeshadows, from Burberry to Inglot or Urban Decay, Mac and Makeupgeek, and I would say that Inglot wins my heart even though every brand has some unique shades worth owning.
My favorite mascara will probably always be YSL Faux-Cils.
Illamasqua make my favorite blushes (Naked Rose is the one blush everyone should own in my opinion) as well as the best matte lipsticks, but the Chanel Rouge Allure have a special place in my heart.
When it comes to skincare, I cannot be without Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum, Khiel's Ultra Cream, Caudalie Vinosource Overnight Recovery Oil, Hydraluron serum and some kind of oil cleanser. I also need an AHA product in my life, Liquid Gold being a favorite.
